Rockwood Water values the importance of water education and offers a number of resources for teachers and students on topics such as water quality, water conservation and the water cycle. Regional Water Providers Consortium – Parent and teacher resources to help everyone learn about how their water works.

U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Water Science School – Information on many aspects of water, along with pictures, data, maps, and an interactive center where you can give opinions and test your water knowledge.

Water Conservation in the Garden – Responsible gardeners study the needs of their plants and water accordingly to keep their plants growing strong and healthy and to conserve one of the most valuable resources on the planet.

Activity Booklets

  • Where’s Rosie? Activity Booklet: Developed as a supplement for the Where’s Rosie puppet show; includes activities on the properties of water, the water cycle and water conservation (suitable for Grades K-2).
  • Water and You: A booklet with coloring activities and puzzles to teach how important water is to all living things (suitable for Grades K-2).
  • What Do You Know About H2O?: An activity book with games and puzzles to help teach kids about water conservation (suitable for Grades 3-6).

Presentations/Performances

Classroom Presentations

District staff enjoy working with students. We look forward to the opportunity to put together water-related presentations and activities for the classroom, as requested by teachers, to meet their educational needs. Whether it be about our water source(s), water quality, water conservation, or the water cycle – just let us know what you need!

Performances

The following performances are presented by local actors and sponsored by the District.

  • Where’s The Water Watson?: Mad Science presents a show telling the water cycle story using music, interactive engagement, visual imagery and repetition (suitable for Grades K-2).
  • What Do You Know About H20?: Shake it up with the Mad Scientist as you learn all about the amazing attributes of water while focusing on the importance of conserving this precious resource (suitable for Grades 3-6).

Mini-Grants

Water Education Mini-Grants Program

Rockwood Water offers up to $250 per fiscal year to schools in our service area to help fund water-related education. The purpose of the program is to supplement academic instruction by providing financial support for teachers to implement creative classroom projects that will foster greater student awareness of water and its importance. Awards will be granted in amounts up to $250 per project until grant funds are used (July 1 – June 30). For more information on the program or an application, click on the forms below:
